Genesis 3:17-18: "...cursed is the earth for thy sake: in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.
Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee, and thou shalt eat the herb of the field."
When the pickles lose their saltiness, they are good for nothing than to be thrown to the chickens... or when the pickler forgets the salt, he hopes that chickens like gross pickles.
