Our Goats

Liason is our ADGA registered Lamancha buck

We got started in goats as soon as we moved to our farm with a Nubian and Nubian/Apline cross, tried a pure-bred Alpine, but have settled on Lamanchas.  Keeping goats is a chore, but it has its rewards -- we are able to provide fresh milk to the family as well as home-made soap that is easier on the skin in the winter months.  We have made mozzarella and ricotta cheese for our own use.

Lamanchas are a hardy and quiet breed - less picky than the Alpine (and with better-tasting milk) and less needy than the Nubians we've owned.  At one time we considered getting out of dairy, but when we did the math, keeping goats in milk is more economical for our large family.  Showing may be in the future, but only when the kids are old enough and show real responsibility and desire to enter the show ring.

Our goal is to have milk year-round.  We sell excess milk when we have it.  Contact us for details.
